What A Long Way We Have Come

It all started on a 1970’s electric stove in a granny-flat kitchen.  Armed with a 10 litre pot and a bucket of strawberries from a local farm, Eric spent the day making jam.  A week later, Monica took a stall at the local farmers market, and sold all 20 jars of that jam.

The Family Business

We are Monica & Eric Robinson, owners and operators of The Other Chef. We are Mum & Dad of two energetic boys; husband & wife to each other, and partners in a business that has grown from a love of good food and a vision to create natural, quality products from fresh, locally grown ingredients.

After settling in Lake Cathie, just south of Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of Australia, and armed with a 10 litre pot and a bucket of strawberries from Ricardoes Tomatoes & Strawberries, Eric spent the day making jam. A week later we ran a stall at the local farmers market, and sold every jar of that jam.

When the strawberry jam won a medal at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards, the story caught the attention of the strawberry grower. Within a short time, we were making jam for the grower, and The Other Chef was born.

From Farm to Table

We specialise in producing award winning jams, relishes, sauces, pickles and other essential condiments. We source locally grown ingredients from farms in the lush hinterlands of Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

Our products are made by traditional methods, and contain no allergens or added preservatives.  They are all vegan and coeliac-friendly, so are suitable for people with gluten intolerances.

Our team operate from a modern production facility in Port Macquarie, where they plan and hand-craft all of our award winning products.

We ensure the same care goes into every product we make, and with over 15 years experience, we are able to support our customers from product conception, through to manufacture, compliance and distribution.

The Factory Outlet

We have been part of Port Macquarie’s Artisan food industry for over a decade, and have just recently opened the doors to welcome visitors to our brand new premises – located in an emerging cluster of food & beverage makers in Port Macquarie’s light industrial area.

Our new solar-powered factory features a showroom and shop, where you can taste & purchase gourmet food products which have been made on the premises, as well as watch the products being made through a viewing window into the kitchen. If you’re unable to visit us directly, you can order online and we will ship directly to your door.
